France is the world’s leading producer of lavandin (80% of world production) and the world’s second largest producer of lavender. These crops represent, in the South of France, more than 20,000 hectares and 9,000 direct jobs. But today, lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and lavandin (Lavandula hybrida), emblematic plants of Provence, are under threat.

The Mycolav project aims to develop ecological engineering techniques, controlled mycorrhiza- tion is now under study, and could well be a key to the solution.
